Repairs and callouts
All makes, all models, whether we fitted it or not. Parts for the major brands are carried on the van, so most faults are sorted on the first visit rather than after a week of waiting for a courier.
What goes wrong
We attend breakdowns across the North West. Two of these you can check yourself in five minutes. We would rather tell you that than charge you to come out and press a button on a remote.
Check the mode first
Usually the remote sitting in heating or fan mode. If not, it is a dirty filter, a blocked outdoor coil, or refrigerant that has leaked away. A system low on gas will still blow, just not cold.
Nearly always the drain
The condensate tray blocks with dust and biofilm, fills, and overflows into the room. Occasionally it is a pump that has given up, or a drain run that was never laid to a fall.
Bearings and mounts
A squeal is usually a fan bearing. A rattle is often a loose panel or a bracket that has worked loose. A deep hum from outside can be a compressor mount that has perished.
Stop using it
Water where it should not be, a failing compressor, or a damaged cable. Repeatedly resetting a breaker on an appliance that keeps tripping it is how small faults turn into fires.
Tell us the code
Every manufacturer uses its own codes and they narrow the job down enormously. Read it out when you ring and there is a good chance the right part is already on the van.
Turn it off
Ice on the copper or the indoor coil means poor airflow or low refrigerant. Running it like that will kill the compressor, which is the one part you really do not want to replace.
What happens when you ring
If it is a mode setting, a filter or a tripped isolator, we will talk you through it and charge you nothing. It costs us ten minutes and saves you a callout fee.
Plus and Commercial plan holders get same day phone support and next working day attendance. Without a plan you go in the queue behind them, which in July can mean a few days.

Capacitors, fan motors, condensate pumps, control boards for the major brands, and gas. Most visits end with a working system rather than a quote and a wait.
If the repair is close to the cost of replacing, you get both numbers and an honest opinion about how much life is left in the rest of the system.
Refrigerant does not get used up. If it has gone, it leaked, and putting more in without finding the hole is both against the F-Gas regulations and a waste of your money.
Common questions
Check the mode first. It is genuinely the most common callout we get, and it is usually a remote that has been nudged from cooling into heating or fan only. The snowflake symbol is cooling, the sun is heating.
If the mode is right and it is still warm, the likely causes are a blocked filter, a dirty outdoor coil, or low refrigerant from a leak. The first two you can look at yourself. The third needs an F-Gas engineer, because topping up a leaking system without finding the leak is both illegal and pointless.
Almost always a blocked condensate drain rather than a leak of anything expensive. The tray fills up, water finds the lowest point and comes out of the front of the unit. Turn it off so you are not making more water, put a towel down, and ring us. It is normally a same visit fix.
£95 for the first hour including travel, then £45 an hour after that. Parts are quoted before we fit them. Service plan customers pay no call out charge at all, and Plus and Commercial plans get seen before anyone without a contract.
Yes, and most of our repair work is exactly that. Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Toshiba, Samsung, LG, Fujitsu, Hitachi and Midea are all familiar. If a system is beyond economic repair we will say so and show you the figures rather than replacing parts on something that is going to fail again.
Depends on what has failed and what gas it uses. A fan motor or a control board on a ten year old unit is worth fixing. A failed compressor usually is not, because the part and the labour together get close to a new system.
The other factor is the refrigerant. Older systems running R22 cannot legally be topped up at all, and R410A is being phased down, which pushes the price of a regas up every year. A current R32 system will also use roughly a third less electricity, which changes the sums.
